Our team of midwives will guide you through your pregnancy and make sure you and your baby are in optimal health.
We provide high quality, evidence-based, and personalized care throughout your pregnancy. Each prenatal appointment is 60-90 minutes long and done by one or both midwives on our team. During this time, we will address any and all physical and emotional concerns you have, take your blood pressure, listen to your baby's heart beat, measure your baby's growth, and ensure that both Mother and baby are doing well. We attend pregnant women in all the villages surrounding the lake: Pana, San Marcos, San Pedro, San Pablo, Santiago, etc.
SCHEDULE OF CARE
Our recommended schedule of prenatal care begins with your first appointment between 8 and 12 weeks of pregnancy. We will then see you every four weeks until you reach 32 weeks, then every two weeks until you reach 36 weeks. After 36 weeks, we will see you weekly until your delivery. If concerns or complications arise, we will see you more frequently as needed.
Initial intake appointment: 90 minutes
At your first visit, you will meet both Mallory and Hannah. This visit will include a comprehensive health history and filling out intake forms. Our goal at this initial appointment is to discuss your desires for your pregnancy and birth and allow you to determine if we are a good fit to guide you through this incredible and transformative process. We will also discuss, based on your health, whether you are an appropriate and safe candidate for a home birth. This is your chance to get to know us, ask questions, and share your vision for your birth experience. At this visit, we will also establish your due date, confirm that your pregnancy is viable, discuss lab work to be done, and discuss options for where you would like to have your baby.
Subsequent prenatal visits: 60 minutes
Your subsequent visits will occur around 16, 20, 24, 28, 32, 34, 36, 37, 38, 39, and 40 weeks of pregnancy.
Following your intake appointment, we will begin seeing you every four weeks. These visits will include time to address all of your physical and emotional concerns. We will always check your blood pressure, monitor your baby's growth, and listen to your baby's heartbeat. We will address different topics according to where you are during your pregnancy including nutrition, exercise, stress management, emotional well-being, common discomforts of pregnancy and their remedies, screening for gestational diabetes, identifying warning signs of preterm labor, preparing for labor and birth, preparing for the postpartum period, breast feeding, and more.
